The Weiler Tiger type 29 angled-style zirconia alumina abrasive flap disc features an aluminum backing for rigid reinforcement and a threaded hole for easy attachment to grinding tools. This flap disc is ideal for working on curved surfaces, thanks to its self-sharpening zirconia alumina abrasive material which is more durable than traditional aluminum oxide. This durability makes it perfect for applications requiring fast material removal rates and aggressive grinding tasks such as weld blending, deburring, deflashing, edge chamfering, stock removal, and grinding and finishing all in one step.

The unique angled shape of the disc ensures maximum contact with the workpiece, and it is commonly used with right-angle grinders at a 15- to 35-degree angle to help dissipate heat. A threaded hole fastening type means that the disc has a female-threaded central hole that easily twists onto a threaded arbor.

Abrasive flap discs are constructed from overlapping pieces of coated abrasive attached to a hub, reducing finishing time and costs by allowing for grinding and finishing in a single step. These discs have a coated design, meaning abrasive grains are attached to a backing material using adhesive. The action of a flap disc is similar to that of a sanding disc, with grinding or polishing taking place on the face of the disc. Flap discs are versatile, suitable for tasks ranging from shaping parts to fine finishing depending on the grit size used. Lower grit numbers like 40 are coarse and remove excess material, while higher grit numbers like 400 provide a smoother surface finish with more grains.

Weiler, a company founded in Germany in 1898 and now headquartered in Cresco, PA, manufactures precision brushes, abrasives, and maintenance products. The company is ISO 9001 certified, ensuring high-quality standards across their range of products. The zirconia alumina abrasive used in the Type 29 angled-style flap disc is self-sharpening and more durable compared to aluminum oxide. This specific style is known for its aggressive nature and is commonly used for tasks such as weld blending, deburring, deflashing, edge chamfering, stock removal, and one-step grinding and finishing. With an aluminum backing providing rigid support, this disc is designed to be used at a 15- to 35-degree angle to effectively dissipate heat during operation.
